Documentarian Frederick Wiseman records the principal dancers of the American Ballet Theater in rehearsal in their New York studios, and on stage during a tour of Athens and Copenhagen in the spring of 1992. This is Wiseman's 27th documentary and his first about a cultural institution. 

USA – Docudrama. Filmed in Denmark, Ballerina stars Kirsten Simone, a prima ballerina of the Royal Danish Ballet. Among the ballets featured are Swan Lake and Coppelia. Ballerina premiered as a two-part installment of TV's Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color, originally broadcast in 1966. The two parts were combined into one and released theatrically in Europe.
